EDiM #9 and some notes from the course

EDiM #9 Draw a bit of organized chaos. It was a really suitable challenge for today because I have spent the day in a watercolour workshop held by Swedish artist Gunnel Moheim (http://www.moheim.se/) and my working space was chaos most of the time, as always when I paint watercolours. Below you can see the result of what I was working at in the sketch, we were working with semi-abstract paintings in complementary colours. I find it so hard to free myself of the more naturalistic way of painting when I do landscapes, especially if they contain some kind of building or likewise. I tend to go for either totally abstract paintings or more naturalistic. But I really admire artists who can capture the idea of a house without painting all doors and windows. Happy to recieve any tips you´ve got...

    Åh vad jag ser fram emot att få se lite av dina nya verk i verkligheten! Det låter jättespännande med kursen. Och skissen av ditt organiserade kaos är helt underbar! Jag fattar inte hur du gör det, får till komposition och färger till och med i en "kaos-skiss".

    I'm just catching up on commenting since my computer crashed again...I see you've been very busy! Wonderful sketches for Everyday in May, and I love the sketches on this post! My favorite on the abstract buildings is the bottom left! But your bit of organized chaos made me smile the most...maybe because I can relate!

    Your sketch of the organized chaos of your studio is really good, and pretty complex too. I am with you on mixing the abstract look with realism. I think that is very difficult but you have a good start in your examples.

    I think these all look good. Learning what you can leave out or just suggest is just a matter of experience and practise - at least that's what i've been told!

    Great pics Anna. I suggest, if you don't like painting in an non-realistic way, do the exercises, store the information, then do what you enjoy.

    Absolutely lovely work!! I really enjoy looking at semi-abstract art, but I can't for the life of me get my brain to work that way. I think your workshop painting is really a wonderful example of this and I'm green with envy :) !!

    I love the sketch of your workspace. I don't know how to do the inbetween of realistic and abstract either. Wish I did.
